Out on the cliff she strides,

Back and forth

By morn and night

Scrying the waves for something

Someone? Lost

Long ago

I wonder as I watch her

This sad and vigilant

Lighthouse keeper

Waiting for a ship

That will never

Reach the shore

Why I don’t watch

And wait for you

To answer my call

Walk through the

Door of our

Rusting home

Embrace me again.

Whispering, everything

Will be alright

In the end.

I came to where she stands,

She looked me in the eyes,

Judged me wanting

With oceans of tears

A hundred years long

And she took my hand.

We will wait

They will return”

As the coldness

Of the sea frost

Took me in

I cannot wait,

I must away!

There’s too much

darkness, too

Much hurt,

Too much empty

Space in starlight

To wait for their

Return”

She laughed,

Like ancient thunderstorms,

Wreaking their revenge,

Oh my sweet,

My lovely,

You have returned,

You have returned.”
